Today I attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the all new Howard D. Woodson High School. As co-founders of mentorSTEM, Caronell Diew and I were recognized today as a partner with Woodson– the first STEM based school in Washington, DC.
The new building is a modern, three-story structure with a sky-lit atrium that floods the building’s core with natural light. The school is a technologically advanced community center for teaching and learning—they’ve got it all in a gorgeous steel and glass structure.
H.D. Woodson will open its doors to students on Monday! But today was for speeches, singing and celebrating! The spirit of the Tower of Power was out in full force as Mayor Vincent Gray and a host of dignitaries celebrated a major milestone for DC Public Schools.
And this September we will launch our STEM mentor program with twenty H.D. Woodson students.I can’t wait!
