Work/life balance is an important consideration in choosing a career.  You’ve learned about aligning your talents and beliefs to your professional aspirations, right?  Well, I’ve been listening and I know that you also want to have a great lifestyle.  You want to travel, go to concerts, eat at great restaurants.  Well, I’m here to tell you that a career in STEM will definitely work towards that ideal work/life balance.  Check out the link at the end of the posts for the top places to work–STEM leads the way!

My guest blogger today is one of the mentorSTEM program’s mentors from the US Department of Transportation.  I asked Rhonda to speak out to you about her recent trip to South America because I know you want to be well-traveled and experience the finer things in life.  Check it out!

This is Rhonda Dews Murrill reporting to you from poolside in Leblon, Brazil. I’m having a fantabulous time in South America, sightseeing the Pink House (similar to our White House), touring the burial place of Evita Perron (the cemetery was more like a huge marble city with cobblestone sidewalks), sitting under the stars of Argentina while listening to Sade in concert, riding a tram up a picturesque mountainside in Rio de Janeiro to view one of the new seven wondersEnglish: Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio de...

of the world Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer), a 130 foot statue that stands on a mountaintop.

My fabulous vacation included chillin’ in a chaise lounge on a private beach, enjoying delicious native foods while being entertained to performers dancing  the tango, salsa, and samba.  Imagine having a balcony with a view of the ocean, mountains, palm trees, tennis courts, and swimming pools, all at the same time.   Yes, my smart career choices and hard work afforded me this opportunity of a lifetime. Be conscious of how the choices you make now will impact your future.  Hard work will payoff and you too can have a fabulous lifestyle!
